the aftermath 

i wasn't here when the psycho bitch packed her bags. i wasn't the one that deposited her at her unsuspecting brother's house. the details i have are disjointed and sketchy as second hand info tends to be. as my departure for my grandmother's grew closer, i became more aware that she would not be here when i returned. there were no direct indications. no inside info from the parental units. just a gut feeling. one i knew wasn't wrong. so the come-to-jesus meeting was cancelled. it seemed pointless. she wouldn't have gotten it anyway.

the call came around 3pm yesterday. the die had been cast. she was leaving. her bags were being packed as i spoke to my mother. the anger and hatred i've been struggling to keep reigned in the past few weeks vanished instantly. sympathy and pity filled the hollow spaces they left behind. i can't imagine what it's like to be her. she's 36. she has nothing but a few boxes of clothes and trinkets. she's been thrown out twice in less than a month. she has no friends to help shoulder her burdens. she's jobless, car-less, and essentially homeless. she's also clueless. she doesn't see that the state that she's in is one of her own making. she's made every decision that's gotten her to this point. decisions made from emotion and reactions to confrontation. she has no grasp on cause and effect.

i returned home last night around 6 and the atmosphere of the house had changed completely. there were no more hushed conversations. no more sideways glances of disgust and irritation. even punkin was more like the boy he was before she came along. and for me that's everything.  ¶ 12:45 PM 0 comments |
